Katherine Marshall honored with "Distinguished Volunteer" Award

In celebration of National Philanthropy Day 2010, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Western Maryland Chapter honored Katherine Marshall from Mother Seton School, Emmitsburg, for being an "outstanding fundraising volunteer" and for making a positive difference at Mother Seton School. Ms. Marshall was past Chairperson of the Mother Seton School Board of Directors, chaired the Bicentennial Committee for the school's 200th Anniversary celebration held in April 2010, and had been instrumental in securing numerous contributions from generous benefactors.

An active alumna, Katherine Marshall graduated from Mother Seton School in 1969. The daughter of Robert T. and Ann Hall Marshall of Emmitsburg, Kate currently resides in Potomac, Md. with her husband, Kirk Rutherford.

"It was an honor to be representing Mother Seton School, but I'm just one of many wonderful volunteers who contribute to our school," said Ms. Marshall.

Nonprofits from four counties in Western Maryland selected individuals who they felt deserved to be honored for this award. Awardees were recognized at the "Distinguished Volunteer Recognition Luncheon" on November 13 at Dutch's Daughter Restaurant in Frederick, MD and received a medal from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Western Maryland Chapter to thank them for their extraordinary volunteer service.
