The class who raised the most money for the week overall receives the Big Pig Grand Prize, while the class whose donations weighed the most receive a runner-up prize. Incentives and prizes vary by year.

Funds raised through Penny Power have helped MSS enrich our technology program through upgrades to existing technology and through the purchase of enhancements, such as iPods, Chromebooks, and Lego® Robotics Education Kits for the classroom.

Walk-a-Thon

The Mother Seton School annual Walk-a-Thon is a charity fund-raiser held each spring. Students ask friends and family to sponsor them as they walk the 2-mile route around campus and through the National Fire Academy grounds. Primary students walk with their class. Intermediate through Middle School students may walk independently and must check-in at stations placed in various locations along the route to verify their miles walked. Proceeds raised benefit a variety of causes.

2014 WALKATHON

Total collected: $3,704.56 for  our  2014 Recipient

Central Africa: Rwanda: Help for a Home for Girls who are Poor

In the Nyamirambo neighborhood, south of the city of Kigali, the Daughters of Charity operate the Social Parish Home for Girls who are Poor. The people living in this area have almost no opportunities to learn new skills. They live off of small trades, work at construction, building roads and doing house work. Since 1989, the Daughters of Charity have taught sewing lessons to young girls at the Parish Home. The Sisters also provide Human and Christian Formation plus English lessons to the girls at the home. The Sisters sell the clothes sewn by the students and help to maintain the project. This trade can help these girls in creating personal dignity and awareness, besides learning to provide for themselves.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
